BCD Status Types and Fees for Recertification

Full Status

The annual Full Status fee is $115 ($20.00 late fee if applicable). To recertify as a Full Status BCD:

• Hold BCD in good standing
• Hold state license at clinical social work level and in good standing in each state where you practice
• At least 300 hours of clinical social work within the past 12 months
• At least 20 hours of clinical continuing education within the past 12 months

Emeritus Status

The annual Emeritus Status fee is $50 ($20.00 late fee if applicable). To recertify as an Emeritus Status BCD (new criteria):

• hold BCD in good standing, and
• be at least 62 years old and completely retired from active practice, or
• be at least 70 years old and substantially retired from practice (less than 300 hours of practice per year).

Practitioners who are older 62 in active practice need not hold this status, and may postpone requesting it for as long as they wish.

Associate Status

The annual Associate Status fee is $111 ($20.00 late fee if applicable). BCD-holders in good standing for at least one year may apply for Associate Status in the event of a job-change (to educator or administrator) and concomitant reduction in clinical practice to less than 300 hours annually. To recertify as an Associate Status BCD:

• Hold BCD in good standing
• Hold state license at clinical social work level in good standing, in each state where you practice (unless exempted due to terms of government employment)
• Engage in 150-300 hours of clinical social work within the past year
• At least 20 hours of clinical continuing education within the past 12 months
